It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the online boutique, New Social Class. From their carefully curated selection to the crazy awesome woman behind the brand, New Social Class is one of my favorite online shopping destinations. I had the pleasure of sitting down to salads and girl talk with Karine Sebbag, the fashionable and fabulous creative force behind New Social Class, and she shared her must have picks and styling tips.
Sebbag is New Social Class’s best advertisement, this yummy mummy balances her life in the fashion industry with a thriving career as a dentist and raising a couple of cuties. That’s right darlings, beauty and brains from this one.
Tell us a bit about New Social Class!
New Social Class is a brand new online store out of Montreal, Canada. My brother, Jeremy and I have always wanted to start a business together and launched our online boutique in October 2013.
What inspired you to start New Social Class?
Our goal is to bring the trendy American and Australian brands into the Canadian market through an e-commerce space. Being busy bodies ourselves, we feel that online shopping is the way of the future. We always knew we wanted to start a business together since we grew up in a very close-knit home.
Also, my love for fashion and shopping and his love of marketing, mixed with his computer skills just sorta made this an obvious option.
Who is the New Social Class client?
Our client is definitely that cool, trendy and young at heart man or woman. We try to offer a little something for everyone…at various price points. From bold colors and patterns, crazy party dresses and an array of high/low accessories for both sexes, New Social Class is one of the hottest online stores out of Montreal right now, don’t you think?
What are some of your must have pieces from the site?
My must-haves are the Avish necklace by Lionette, the World Cuff by Artelier, the eye necklace and anklet by Jennifer Zeuner, the lips bracelet by Caia jewels, I Eat Glitter For Breakfast Tank by Dream Monstar and the Lulu Dress by For Love and Lemons. See, I love to shop, that is truly why I had to open a store! xo
What are some of your favorite trends for summer?
I love fitted, colorful skirts won with loose, stylish tops. I love wearing big shades, big cuffs, pretty dainty necklaces and anklets. I am sorta all over the place – I mix and match. Fashion is all about taking risks and having fun.
What trend or trends are you totally over?
Truthfully, I hate seeing overalls on grown ups! That is something my daughter wears – and she is in elementary school!
You’re basically the walking definition of yummy mummy. How do you balance being a busy working mother and staying so fashionable?
Thank you 🙂 I think it’s important to try to not lose yourself once you have kids. It feels good to get all done up once in a while – my husband and I have a lot of friends and love to go for dinners, drinks, parties…we are still young!
Who are you style inspirations?
My favorites are Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Monica Belluci and Penelope Cruz. They are all gorgeous, stylish and always sexy.
You have 48 hours in MTL, how do you spend it?
I love a good breakfast at L’Avenue, lunch at the Ritz, dinner and dancing at Flyjin one night, and another night at Grinder…the best tartar. I would suggest to ride a Bixi downtown to see the sites (and avoid traffic), take a calèche ride in Old Montreal, go to the lookout and 100% stop by Tam Tams if it’s a Sunday.
