A Red Poppy

November 7, 2013

photo 3

You’ll notice that I have a red poppy pinned to my jacket. For those who are not familiar with this symbol it is worn in honor of Remembrance Day here in Canada and in other countries that are or were once associated with the Commonwealth. Similar to Memorial Day in the United States, it honors the men and women who have and are serving in the Armed Forces. I have a deep respect for these brave men and women, they are selfless in the service and brave in the face of the great dangers that they encounter.  A few members of my family have served in the Armed Forces. My grandfather was an officer in the Army Air Corps and saw combat in World War II, Darling Husband’s grandfather served in the Greek army as a communications operator and artillery man, one of my cousins graduated from West Point, and his brother is currently an officer in the US Army. Besides the men and women who serve, their spouses and families serve alongside them. One of my best friends is married to a Naval officer and has seen him through a deployment where she frequently was unable to speak to him or even know where he was. I was constantly amazed by the strength that she showed during what I can only imagine was an incredibly difficult time. It is for these special people who I wear my red poppy and the countless others who are our friends and family members.

Who else was obsessed with the @balenciaga City Ba Who else was obsessed with the @balenciaga City Bag in the early aughts ? I fell in love with it thanks to British It-Girls Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, it was such an “It Bag” and I had to have it. Its popularity might have been eclipsed by quite a few other styles, but I still find myself reaching for mine. 📸 by @brightcutmedia #balenciagacity #balenciagacitybag #bragmybag #itbags #outfitdetails #bagloverscommunity
